Extra Credit Projects
Extra Credit projects are worth 100 points and are due: January 8, 2010. No late projects will be accepted. Choose one of the following options for your term project or if you have a special project in mind, see me for the okay. All projects must be three to five pages, typed, double-spaced, maximum font of 14. In addition to the three to five pages you must have a title page, bibliography (list of at least 3 references) and at least one visual aid. All work must be your OWN writing. Papers that are copied, cut pasted, etc, directly from internet sources WILL NOT be accepted.
1. Research and write a report on career opportunities in one of the following areas: respiratory therapy, physical therapy, rehabilitation, emergency medical services, nursing, or medical doctor. Discuss education required, current job market, starting and average salaries, etc.
2. Research and report on a major disease association with one of the following systems: respiratory, urinary, skeletal, muscular, nervous, endocrine or reproductive. In clued cause and effect, symptoms, possible treatment and/or cure, etc.
3. Research and write a report on health problems associated with athletes and drug enhancements. Include current data/statistics on athletes using items such as steroids, blood doping, and public opinion/issues, etc.
4. Research and report on organ transplants. You may choose to be general and cover issues that are common to all organ transplants or you may be specific and discuss a particular type of organ transplant. Be sure to include issues of availability, rejection/immunosuppressant, ethical dilemmas, organ donor option, etc.
5. Research and write a report on joint replacement. You may choose to be general and cover issues that are common to all joint replacements or you may be specific and discuss a particular type of joint replacement.
